To obtain your full UK driving license you are
required to pass two tests, a Theory and a Practical.
Test
1: Theory and Hazard Perception
This is a 1.5 hour test consisting of two parts. The first part
will be 50 multiple choice questions which will test your knowledge
of the Highway Code, Road Signs and Driving Skills. Pass mark
for this is 43 or higher.
After a short break you will sit the second part.
This part tests your ability to identify when a Potential
hazard has developed into an Actual hazard.
You will be shown 14 video clips containing 15 scoreable hazards.
Each clip will last approx 1 minute and you will have 5 seconds
to identify each of the hazards. Pass mark for this is 44 out
of a possible 75.
To gain your Theory Certificate you must pass both of these
tests at the same attempt.
Test
2: Practical Driving Test
Your test will last approx 50 minutes and will begin with the
examiner asking you a couple of “Show me” “Tell
me” questions.
You will then be asked to drive showing your ability to perform
specific maneuvers and demonstrate to the examiner that you
are a confident safe driver.
I will recommend you for test only when I am confident you are
ready, have all the necessary skills to pass and most importantly
be a safe driver for life.
